Minnesota Sea Grant

MN Sea Grant LogoMinnesota Sea Grant supports and participates in scientifically rigorous research and outreach projects that focus on Lake Superior, Minnesota's inland lakes, and national coastal issues. The Program's main office is located at a University of Minnesota research facility in Duluth.

Program grants are awarded to fund research led by a faculty member from a Minnesota academic institution and include support for a graduate research assistant. Staff, an advisory committee, partnering organizations, scientists, and the public help to identify program research needs. Minnesota Sea Grant issues a competitive request for proposals biennially. The director also has development funds that are available for exploratory research.

The Minnesota Sea Grant Program Guide summarizes projects currently in progress. The newsletter Seiche published (2-3 times per year) covers program research and educational activities plus issues related to Lake Superior and the environment.
